Mixed gas with a red tiint

FWIW, I recently bought a gallon jug of the 'orange' Stihl pre-mix, expecting that same black/blue/green color that I'd been seeing for years.

Imagine my surprise when I mixed up my first batch and the 'Klotz look-a-like' red oil came out of the bottle. I called Stihl to see if I may have gotten a bottle that was mis-packaged and Stihl confirmed a semi-recent color change for that oil. What was interesting was this....

....the tech rep on the phone mentioned that Stihl was considering a switch back to the old color as there was a lot of complaining about the new color.

I use Maxima K2 in my mix and it has no color.

I found that the oil based dye they use for candles tints the fuel just fine......and I chose blue! It takes about 10 drops to tint a gallon.

Just to clarify things for Ramrod48. I am not wrong about what went into my Stihl MS200T. I saw the dealer use Tru Fuel 50.
It is a premix of gas and oil 50-1 ratio that does not contain ethanol and has a red tint. I just offered that up as a suggestion to the original poster concerning a red tint in his fuel. Its a bit pricey but doesn't contain ethanol and that works for me.

Comments: I have owned a Stihl 028 Super chainsaw and Stihl straight
shaft brushcutter for over 20 years.

I have recently bought 2 new chainsaws recently, a Makita 6401 and
Husqvarna 346Xp. I wouldn't even consider a Stihl because I detest the
"flippy caps" so much. In my opinion the flippy caps were a solution to
a problem that wouldn't exhist.

Can you make your pro line saws without this worthless feature? As long
as you continue with these caps, I will not consider a Stihl.

Thanks,

Ron XXXXX
