Anyone else see that the 440 R has made another appearance on stihls website ?..i check periodically to see if the 661 made it on yet and sure enough the 440 was on there this morning !

I noticed that too. Certain dealers list the regular 440 too, but I don't know if they have them.

That's the same price of a 441 M-tronic. But I suspect Randy, Brad and others will be getting some 440s to port soon.

I'm really trying to learn my saws. Whats the difference between the 440, 440R, and 441?
If I wanted to buy a saw which one is better? Or should I just look for a 460?

441c is mtronic...440R wrap handle, dual dogs, some other upgrades I believe. Are you looking new or used? 441c, 440R, or 461 would be your options for new Stihls. Longtime members here could give you the finer points on each one...

The 440R does not have a HO oilier.

440 doesn't have the HO oiler as an option. The 441 does have it on the R model as does the 460/461. There is a good difference between the regular oiler and the HO oilers.

I ran my ported 461 today..wow is it strong..doesnt seem to be a speed demon..but i buried 25 and 28 inch bars in rock hard frozen red oak and the saw handled it just fine , i was impressed
