MS261C muffler mod help

I cut the gills into the side of my muffler yesterday and recalibrated the Mtronic system according to the posts I've read here and only gained one second in the cut. To recalibrate it I put the saw in the start position and let it idle for 60 seconds then shut it off. Is there anything else I need to do?

After the calibration, make 5 cuts through a piece of wood (not to small) and let it idle a short time between each cut. The system tunes itself then to the right performance.

Are you sure which version mtron you have, the new 3.0 has a different reset procedure.

It's a 2015 model so probably the first generation 261 mtronic.

I think the reset on the older version of M Tronic was idle for 90 seconds then shut it off. I keep getting confused with the old and new ones though.

There is no v3 MS261c MTronic module. It is still on the older version that you can't "calibrate", only "reset". I have one built in June 2020.

Also, time gained in the cut is going to depend on the size of the log you're cutting.

I was cutting a 16" oak log. So letting it idle for 90 seconds in the start position is the correct way to do it? I did it for 60 seconds the first time and 90 seconds the next time and noticed no difference?

Well I'll be...Never saw that before, but I now see mine does say M3.0. There is even a section about it in the manual. Thanks for the correction. Any idea when that started?

Yes, start it in the "choke" position and let it idle for 90 seconds then turn off. then start it up like you normally would and it should be reset.

M-tronic 3.0 has a completely different reset procedure. Read the manual, I don't feel like typing it. Or watch it on YouTube.

The 3.0 is a different procedure you are correct. This saw was made in 2015 and a version 2.0
