Less than a hour from my house, can back my truck right up to it and its free as much as i want.

Where do you start on a pile that big? Just be careful of rolling pieces.

Not sure how the fellow cutting on the pile plans to get the rounds to the ground. Looks like a dangerous proposition to me cutting on top of the middle of the pile.
 
There is a reason that the wood was dropped there and not processed for lumber or firewood. You will be lucky to get 2 lengths out of most of those short logs and splitting those crotches will be a nightmare to say nothing of the danger.

I learned not to cut on top so i drag them down with a chain to my truck cut and load. Ive gotten some decent firewood out of there so far. It was logged last year so its kinda dry already.
 
Nice firewood score.Be carefull there could be 15 trucks there at the same time.

Man, that`s a pile o wood! Here in S. Texas, that would heat my house for about 20 yrs! I think I`m gettin a serious case of "wood envy"! :msp_w00t:
