New, my first 2 saws

Well after quite a while of wanting to get my first saw, I've picked up 2 in the last month. I'm mostly a weekend wood warrior. Anyway, the first saw I picked up was a non running Stihl 038 AV Electronic, had great compression and spark so my brother in law and I kind of rebuilt it as it was missing some stuff and now it runs great. Second saw I just picked up last weekend is a very early 041 from what I can gather. Not an AV, not a Farm Boss, just an 041. It runs great and I'll be using
both saws for the first time this coming weekend, can't wait.

Here is the 038 AV after I got it and cleaned it up a bit.

To getting running right we put a new carb kit in it and all was well. Also had to get some other parts including an air filter, new clutch drum kit, bar and chain and a few other smaller items.

And the finished product.

Here is the 041, traded a few things and a little cash for it. Bar is a little rusty, air filter cover nut on top is partially broken and the muffler is missing the screen but other than that it runs great.

A good friend of mine has an 041, don't know how old it is, used alot. He had to put a muffler and carb kit in it this year, that's all he has ever done to it other than plug and filter. Must be great saws.

Keep all your saws at 32/1 if you want them to run right when your done. OH! I mean 32 minutes of work to one beer.

if you want to have different saws, you'll need to sell those because it isn't too likely you'll wear them out. Those are two durable models. The 041's are harder to get parts for but I bet you'll put a lot of wood in the pile with them. Welcome to the madness.

Understood. Not sure what it is, I just couldn't get into the one I resurrected. It was one of those saws that I needed at the time but lost interest. Not because it's old, vibey, silly design ... (I have plenty of those I like ). I just couldn't give it the love. Give it a go, you may like yours. Nice score!
