I went and picked this up today. It's almost all Hickory. Two logs are Red Oak. I have to cut and split a cord in the morning. A restraunt needs some dry Hickory next week.

Great wood! I was putzing with some hickory today, splitting rounds cut last fall. Stringy...much prefer clean straight oak to split, that's fast fiskars fodder, that hickory makes you work for those great BTUs! And each split, you get a blast of that great smokey bacon like smell, love it.

I'll put it in my kiln today and take it out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

ya know... Speaking of a kiln, I could see a sticky thread on how to build a kiln to dry your firewood! Complete with a shed to park your processor under, and a spot for all the hydro splitters. Oh, and a shop in the back to store all the saws and such.
I'd love to see that! Was thinking the same thing when I was reading the post above yours.
