Old (early 90s) Stihl 026 mystery part

Hi All,

Replacing oiler hose and AV rubber on old Stihl 026. I took it apart all the way down to the
oiler and worm gear. When putting back together, I can't for the life of me remember where
this odd looking part goes or what it does. Any ideas? Note, I've had most of the saw apart
so it might not even come from the clutch/bar side of the saw. Thanks, Chris

YES !it goes on the end of the oil pump
to act as a wedge .You will see the rescess
it fits into

Oh my goodness. You mean here?? I never would have found this crevasse.
Assuming so, I hope this helps some other old school Stihl 026 owner out.

I’ve built a boxcar full of 026’s and could not decide where it went , until it was revealed! Maybe had I had the pleasure of removing it (recently) I could have helped. My memory is beginning to suck. lol.
