I tried out my home made Alaskan today. It was in the lower 40s, warmest it's been in about 6 weeks. Strapped the 153 on and went to town on a 20" DBH White Oak thats been down for 5 years.

The wood was surprisingly very solid, made 3 2.375"x18' slabs. The old Dolmar is a tourque MONSTER!. Ate through at a rate of 10 to 12+ inches a minute.

These 3 slabs will be shelfs for my barn. How many saws can you get on 3 shelves 16"x 18' long?

NICE!
And nice line up with the grain!
Share this with them over in the milling forum! They will apprec. the pics!

I did post it first in the milling section, there is not usually a big crowd over there.

Thanks for the props, It was my first time using a CSM.

I hang over on the milling section, and came up with my plan for this super simple design, I couldn't be happier with the results!

Minimalist design, light and balanced, I can drop start it with the mill attachment!

it's acually FazTec, little cheaper than 80/20, Apples, Apples.

80/20 does have more "stuff" such as brackets and hinges etc.

You can get an on-line catalog from 80/20, applications for that stuff is unlimited!

Walked out to get a few pics of the "wet wood", Was talking to my Mom, so they came out pretty blurry.
Here's the best of the 3,

Blurry, but in real life the grain just pops!

That is nice and simple. I can see how it all goes together w/those pics.

What is the extrusion stock? It looks really familiar (think I have miter saw outriggers made from it)

Edit..er, um. scratch that. I see stock noted above. thnx.

under cover

Got the planks in the barn the other morning, just shy of 19 ft.

2.375 thick and averaging 17 inch wide, man I thought I would drop a huevo.

More to come, there is a large Oak with the top blown off, it will be all my current set-up will take.

2 down 1 to go

My Son Matt came out and gave me a hand putting up two of the new shelves Saturday.

I need to find some more cut-offs (extusion) to make 3 more brackets to hang the widest plank down by my workbench.

Here is the wide view, 19 feet long, looks like I need some more old Dolmars to fill the void.

My next project will be a new work bench made from 4" Oak slabs, My bud at work will join them and I will build the frame with extrusion.

From this,

Lightning blew the top clean off that sucker a few years back!

Wish I had not bucked up this old Sycamore,

a>

With the grain and colors, would have made some fine slabs. (bucked last winter before I thought of milling)

There is a knarly looking stump down the road that the Anspludh crew left, going to check with the owner to see if I can get it.

Should be some nice rifle stocks in that.

Looks good. I think you have plenty room on the shelves for a bunch more saws. Yea, I fiqured that was the plan.

1 more shelf

Finally got around to hanging the last shelf, I even cleaned my work bench off!

We had a birthday party for my Father-in-law, so the Wife pressed me to clean up the shed a bit.

Thought I better snap a few pics before it reverts back to the typical mess.

I've been looking for a larger bar~50" to take some slabs off a big Hackberry To make another bench for myself.

The one I have is a 10' slab of bowling lane, A one piece 44"x10'x 5"-6" thick Hackberry should fit the bill nicely.

me thinks I better build a cabin, or get more saws to fill all these shelves and future benches i'll be millin'.

Milling probably don't look as cool as cuttin' cookies in a vid, but it is by far more rewarding.

If that's a shed I'd like too see what yo call a barn!
Nice pics and looks like a lot of fun! I've been trying to decide if I want to build a CSM or buy one. There's an Alaskan 24" on Clist for $120 but I think that's too much for it.

I love the bowling ally work bench!

It's a shed, it's the machine shed, or is that the mo-chine shed.

Think I will offer a home to all the orphan Dolmars out there. PM me, the more the merrier.

Thanks, mo
