Don't take the 372 off your list, they are good saws, and ported they will make the ported 60cc saws look slow by about 20%.

7900 though is a faster saw, it's got nearly 10% displacement on the 372, solo 681 is an option too, very simmilar in many ways to the 7900, 1mm longer stroke.

Your likely right, but a ported 359 is likely one of the best all around fire wood cutters for the money. Nicasil bore of some sort, and good quality parts, should last well. Stihl 361 is built a little better though IMHO (but priced accordingly).

Got a few videos, no larger wood on hand though.

ported 261 and 359 are about dead even with square chain, with round the 359 has a little more torque and beats the 361 by a bar nose.

Stock 372 gets smoke by a little better than 20%

All running same chain (pretty decent chain)

372 Stock 1.68 seconds

Did not upload the videos, but stock muffler mod 660 cut 1.25 and stock 880 1.22 (same 8 tooth gear, so these two could gain some with taller gears)

Are you going to time the cuts in any larger wood? I'd just like to see how the three saws would compare in wood about 24".

it looks like timberwolfs saw runs better then mine by quite a bit and mine pulls 24" bar buried past the tip very well so id imagine hiss will do even better.

372 is still on my lest aswell, but isnt a have to have thing right now, though i amm going to look at two trees tommorrow that i may be taking down a 60 ft blue spruce and cottong wood. thats what the guy said on the phone.

if i make enough on this job i may end up with 372 fairly quick. ill try and get pics of the trees and post here before falling.

thanks again timberwolf.
