if I mod the muffler on my husqvarna 340, will i have to remove the limiter cap on the high jet, or will it richen up enough without removing the cap? Sorry if this has been asked a lot before, but i couldn't find this doing a search.

Connecting the tach will tell you the answer. It's getting much tougher to properly tune a saw without a tach these days.

my infinite wisdom

if it moves more air now... it will need more fuel.
the fuel requirements may well be beyond what is an allowable ajustment by the limiters. buy a tach, find your rpm specs, make more power, and go cut wood!
