Restoring gaskets with oil additives

I recently added some No Leak additive to a 4-cycle Tecumseh engine that I felt was starting to lose some of its seals as it perpetually smoked. I added about 1/2 cup to my mower and after a couple of weeks, no more smoke! I completely guessed at the 1/2 cup but the manufacturer recommends using 1 bottle to 6 quarts of oil.
