Sharpening Advice

I've only been sharpening my own chains for a few years now so I'm looking for some expert advice. A friend brought his MS180 to me - not cutting well. Looks like the chain is a little dull - think can I get one more sharpening on this?

Flip it over, the drive tangs cut good as a scratcher chain.

STOP being a lazy sloth and start doing the work you were asked for and whip out the welder and weld on some new cutters for your friend! I mean come on, no one needs a lazy friend like you!

I was going to try reversing it. The back edges of what is left of the teeth feel pretty sharp. Prolly get at least one more cord out of it if the bar doesn't melt. Haven't even looked at the rest of the saw yet. The clutch cover is missing but the chain adjuster is still on the bar.

Do both your friend and yourself a favour, and tell him to just go and buy a new chain. You'll both be way further ahead.

Just grind off what's left flat with a bench grinder. Maybe then that MS180 can get up to 9000rpm in the wood!

Still a useful chain if not stretched and has decent drive tangs. Good for a log wizard or atom drill where cutterless chain is preferred. But if its Picco/lo pro probably just bin it or sell it as a super-safety chain to a super cautious chainsaw user.
