Yeah, I really want the Solo now, but I'm not going to run out and unload my 441 and 460. Bailey's told me that you need to order parts online directly from Solo. How's that working out? Dolmar dealers are almost non-existent around here, so a 7900, even with the HD air filter (makes the saw look like a pregnant guppy) is out. Also, what kind of muffler mod do you recommend for the 681?

Actually, I have ordered from Solo. They were VERY helpful and got me what I needed in short order. If you can do your own work, I don't think getting parts is a problem.

Very cool! Can't wait to see the Solo ported! I wonder if major gains will be hard to see on a saw that is already rippin like that? I'm sure you'll find them though Brad! It won't hurt to try! After running ported I don't think I'll ever be able to run a stock saw again!

I'd be tickled to get 15% out of it. That would make it nearly 25% faster than a stock 7900. I hope to run a couple tanks through it Saturday. So I don't believe I'll be porting it before then. Maybe next week sometime.

Howdy,
We can drop ship Solo parts from VA to the end user. Our price is the same as what Solo will sell directly to the end user. If you only need Solo parts, it's more effective to go direct. If you need to pick up other supplies from us , it's cheaper on shipping to get the Solo parts drop shipped through us.
Regards
Gregg

Ive ran both, timed both, stock, modded, and superduper hot rodded. Both are great saws out of the box, both mod well if you don't go crazy with the porting (the factory design team didn't leave much area for improvement). Both of them come with a POS ignition system. They build the same, act the same, even feel the same, but the Solo has the eensy weensy little bit more stroke.

Brad your the video king, nice job using real wood not like some jokers on here. Both saws like to be loaded well to cut the fastest, as usual. Steve

Real wood , as opposed to what? Paper mache?
Cut times in softer wood may be a little faster, but if you're using the same sprocket, bar, and chain it's still a fair comparison.
Real wood, Hahahaha. I should have said; I wish you'd use a real saw, llke a 3120, or 880, or a bike saw. Everything else is just a toy.

As opposed to that rotten maple that was on a vid the other day trying to make people think his saw was really fast. The rest of your reply????????? Steve

Why don't you get into modding saws for guys on here and make some easy money like some of these guys on here. At least you actually race race saws. I mean heck your aready 1 up on the rest with these 2 saws the way it sounds.

Just for the record, I don't need no stinking dealer, lol. .

Interesting.

You don't need no stinking dealer because as far as I know you have never used OPE to put bread on the table. To you power tools are pleasant distraction. If you are in the middle of a job and something fails a stocking dealer can save the situation. Customers don't want to hear excuses. You don't get paid until the job is done.

Point of view makes all the difference in the world.
