Stihl 041 Kill Switch Won't Kill

Once again I find myself asking for advice. I am hoping you Folks don't mind sharing your knowledge & time.
I have an 041 AV w/points & cond. According to my ohmmeter everything is working as it should except that the spark cannot be stopped! The switch is grounding, the wiring all good. I have shorted the kill switch wire to the crankcase but it will not quit sparking. I even ran a wire from the spring on points to ground.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

you must have a bad wire. Shorting the points to ground will stop the saw... it effective stops the points from opening (electrically).

Don't know for sure on the 041 but the 056 has an earth wire between the tank and crankcase. If this is bad there would be nowhere for the switch to ground out to.
