I guess I'm wondering if that type of carb needs a certain type of air filter?

what im trying to say (lol i dont know all the terminology) is what is the air intake on the top of this carb used for?? Does an air filter hook up too it like an 036 air filter almost plugs into the carb?? if so then a carb like this will not work for me.

The "snorkel" type carb is what I have on my 046 (they can be Walbro or Zama). They will fit on an 044 w/o interference, but have not run it that way yet.

The 046 filters the air that goes into that snorkel, so I'm not sure if just covering it with a cloth filer will "let it work". When I know, I'll let you know.

I got one for $18 shipped, could not pass it up!

Sounds good, let me know for sure. I'm working on a deal with a fellow AS member for converting to HD filter setup. Pretty stoked.

That is an Intelli-carb. It allows the carb to compensate for a dirty air filter. The only difference is that cover on the carb and the filler base that mates up to it.

Here she is after all of the work. Bought the HD conversion and walbro hd16 carb off fellow member. Gonna try to tune and see what I got going on.
