Yea, only problem with this 084 is the blown out muffler. Ugh what a pita this will be to weld!

Someone please tell me how the entire exhaust flange is blown out of the back????

That is a disgusting thing to see.. Especially since they are so difficult and expensive to find... best of luck to you!

This one will be getting 1/8" plate steel exhaust flange in the back and We'll see how the corners go. I'm almost tempted trace the muffler cover on some 1/8" plate and just cut a flat front cover for it...

You can tell someone already tried to braise it...

Why don't the Chinese re-pop these?
Not a high production unit. Yes there is need out there but how many of these are out there and how many still in service??? If you were them would you take the time to make a part you'll sell millions of (ms290-390), or one you'll sell a couple thousand of?

They will always spend the time to make parts for high production saws that have millions of units still in service. Higher profit for the time they spend engineering and tooling.

True, but the MS290-390 stuff sells for insanely cheap...top ends for $20, etc. Volume (supply) makes their money in this case.

If they stamped these mufflers, every guy with an 084 would buy 2, even at $75 a piece. Demand (lack of supply) would make their money in this case.

Now if only you could scan the busted parts, touch them up in the computer, and 3D print the stamping dies. :D Probably too much voodoo to backward interpolate the dies. Probably possibly to build up and sinter some cheap, but strong enough alloy like zamak, but that, or castings off a plastic copy would be heavy. And then some bright boys dreamed up this monster for one off sheetmetal stuff. Probably costs $5 mil or worse. http://blog.atmel.com/2013/08/13/3-d-printing-for-sheet-metal-sort-of/ Well, it'll give the shoprats something to dream about for a while. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incremental_sheet_forming
