Hey guys, came across this saw, the model plate is either AM or the original numbers just worn off. Any idea what it is? 250c is my guess, but a second opinion would be appreciated.

That's what it looks like to me. Nice and clean.
Off the one photo provided- could also be an MS230c- they both had decompression valves.

Yeah can’t tell any difference between the 230 and 250. Hmm

From all the info I can find they’re interchangeable, both bore and stroke. Yet the 250 has a little more power.
Edit:
Some sites say the 230 has 40mm bore while the ms250 has a 42mm bore. Other sites say they both have 42mm bore.
More digging, I think the 230 is 40mm bore but the engine can be swapped out to accept an ms250’s engine that is a 42.5mm? Edit hence why the full engine kits for sale fit both and have both models listed, while the piston only options state 230 or 250.

Maybe ya'll are using a misterm by accident. It's a primer pump. Don't remember seeing any of that series with decomp.
Maybe you all want to keep up with the plastic saws you work on- they both have a decomp and a PURGE VALVE.
Decomp on the 230/250 MS's is upper right hand side of the cylinder where the top cover cut out is.

As Bob mentioned above, it’s a purge bulb. Primer pushes fuel either directly or indirectly into the throat of the carb, a purge removes the air from the carb as in the case of modern 2 strokes.
Yeah it’s pretty bad, though it only cost me $5 so I can’t complain. Hopefully the dirt has kept it looking clean underneath. I’ll clean it and upload a pic.
No, he is talking about a decomp valve on the side of the cylinder which there is apparently a version in some parts of the world.
I have never seen one here and I work on a lot of them. Would solve a lot of problems if we had it here.
You missed the sentence where he wrote “purge valve” anyway all good. Just confirming they’re a purge not a primer.
No, you were the one claiming we were misnaming the decompression valve as a primer- I merely pointed out these saws are available with both a purge valve and decompression valve- the manual on the USA site discusses the models fitted with decompression valves on page 38, in amongst the starting procedures section.

The real old 025s has a 42mm bore, which changed to the 42.5mm, which might be where the confusion is coming from.
