biggest mistake i ever made cutting trees was today. helping a friend clear his lot (i get the wood) i was cutting down a huge walnut leaner. it was a little over 24" diameter and branched out into "Y" about 25 feet up. it was also about 3 feet from his neighbors chain link fence.

i cut it and it dropped ok, but it bounced back and right on top of that fence!! squished it to the ground...sheesh. and to make matters worse, the owner was watching..lol i felt like a fool, and i apologized several times. my friend said he would pay to have it fixed monday. fortunately it was only a small section of the fence. but, being in a suburban area, the fence was rather newish.

man, i really felt bad about that and i thought i had my cut all planned out. things happen, but at least i still get the wood...and a ton of other trees along with it.

Nope. im too cheap to buy anything that nice.....it's way more fun to drive trees out on a wheeling lawnmower than dragging them yourself

The last post had my Duramax...Kubota...Honda Foreman,,,and my splitter in it...This post should show a good shot of my splitter. I got it off craigslist and I have no clue what make or tonnage it is. I have found a sticker on it that says it was built in Sious city, Iowa. Anyone have an idea what make this is???

splitter looks like a old northern tool type. they used to sell a lot of those before the horizontal/vertical ones came on the market.

Hey KUNES have you bent the carriage bolt yet on that bracket you made. I was thinking that, it is hard to tell from the picture, that if you could put the hook so that it sandwiches's the bracket it might not twist the bolt at the mount. Does this make sense to you, I hope I explained this wright.

Yeah,I thought the same thing.Hook it up like putting a clevis on the tractor drawbar.But it might be safer for him to leave it like it is and mayby the soft carriage bolt will break before he gets hurt. Scott

I can't believe you actually posted all this and i didn't see you on the computer, You ain't slippin around and using somebody elses puter are you. no i've never used it like that. wasn't planning on it either i just did it so it would look pretty with the 3 Grade 12 bolts. usually i take out the middle bolt and put the carriage bolt there. thanks though.
