I hooked up the trailer to my ATV, wanting to get the last load of Beech and some Maple loaded and split up, then I'm done until winter (for the following season cutting). Well I start up the road, and there's a 2 foot garter snake sunning on the road. I pass him, and pull over to where I cross a small creek to get to the wood. There's another black racer about 1 1/2' long. I turned the trailer around and headed for home, with the hair standing on my neck and arms. HAHAHA !!! LOL.

THIS is why I want to have all my wood done by mid-march.

I feel your pain. I loathe snakes. I was trapped by two of them blocking access to my mother who was visiting a friend when I was 5 years old. They were suning themselves across the roads I needed to take to get to the cabin my mom was in.

Then they used to love my firewood piles and would hatch babies in them! There is nothing worse then selling dry wood in the summer and while loading it sticking a bare hand into a ball of baby snakes in a wood pile because you were not looking at the piece of wood before you went to grab it. <shudders> Just talking about it makes the hair on the back of my neck and arms stand up!

Love those black ratsnakes we have around! They eat mice.

One of these days, though, one of them is going to drop out of the T-bar ceiling in my basement just when my wife is doing some laundry, and you'll ALL hear the explosion! :D

Well you see what had happened was... , I had just bought her dinner, 3 huge rabbits, and went to pump her pond out in her cage , I had the doors open and when I leaned down to turn the pond pump on she nailed me right on top of my head. Must have had rabbit scent on me. Oooooppps. my fault. It took a sec to carefully get her long curved teeth out of my head but I got them out. Yes she is my pet , don't knock it till you rock it, girls love a huge snake!!! , kinda. Fluffy is almost 14ft long and over 100lbs.
