What kind of trees are these

Hello everyone, this post is a reply to a former post (Dead Leaves) in which I was asked to provide more pics of my trees so they could be identified. I was concerned about the excessive amount of leaves that were dying at this time of year and also the amount of ants that are constantly on it.

Tree 1 is the tree with the dead leaves and also the tree that drops the little pointed balls. Tree 2 is next to it. What kind of trees are these?

Thanks Treeco, anyone have some advice to keep the ants away or stop the little balls?

Mulch your trees. This has many immediate and longterm benefits. The pointy balls become less of a problem also, a little raking back toward the trunk of the tree. Use the search function to see many lists of benefits of mulching and the proper materials and technique.
