I thought I was the only one with the beast (SL5).

Nice to hear you have one also. I am trying to find a way or parts to swap mine to 3/8 pitch chain. This is the loudest saw I have ever run.

Stihl 066 magnum with a 36 in windsor bar needed nothing $425
stihl 036 pro 20 in bar needed carb lever $250.00
sithl ms 180 needed nothing $125.00
Redmax g2500ts needed nothing but the chain sharpened $39.95 at pawn shop
Just bought the redmax today thought it was a deal runs good all of my saws I got in running shape. Nothing very new except the 066 mag it was almost new when I got it off ebay only around 35 to 40 hours on it.

To be completely honest it would be impossible for me to list all the saws I have now and how many I have had. Sunday I added 10 nice saws to the collection. In the last month or so I have added 4 more two man saws and countless other general issue saws. I have sold off a lot of saws so I could add more. I am in the process of a summer slim down which I hate but I still keep buying more.

Here is a pic I have posted before. I do get a few deals but in this picture I think I have about $1800-$1900. This is just a few of the saws around here. It is impossible to picture all the Homelites. Since teh pic was taken the 136, 365, and 066 are gone although I added more 066's and 371/372s.
I also added a pic of a few of the Stihl 046's.

Of the 40 or so saws I have,$139 was the most I've ever paid. That was for a little Poulan, when it was new.The least,of course, was free.I have several of these. The large saws,Mac sp125's and Homey 2100s,I have about $125 each. The most I've spent restoring a saw,was around $200 total on a Stihl 048[rings seals, gaskets, bearings].Most of the time,on these old saws,it's just a matter of rebuilding the carb or repairing the mag to get them running again.I have done so many carbs that I think I could almost do it blind folded :)

Al,

I can send you some more to do if you get bored. I have (3) Homelite 1130G's, (1) XP1100, and a XP1020 that could use a carb kit.

Steve here...
Poulan XXV free
066arctic $850 bought new still like new
066 Brazilian $780 as NIB jungle saw....no emissions or spark arrestor
Homelite 750 $500 like new
Wards West Bend 820 hot saw...$1500 and climbing
Stihl 088KD ... $2000plus like new with box
Stihl 090AV as new... I'm not tellin'

It is interesting to note,by the price range, peoples different degrees of types, condition, etc.Being a Mac collector, among other things,I've had the oppurtunity to literally have McCullochs,by the ton. When I had the time to attend local farm sales,a Mac 250 or "1" series didn't usually bring a very high price,in a usual non running condition, nor did the older Homelites.I decided, long ago to keep my collecting to the sizes and types not normally seen in this, the midwest, which is not timber country, generally speaking.Geez if I bought every cheap saw,I would need a warehouse.Fact is that I have 6 or 8 that were given to me and I haven't went to get them yet :dizzy:

Al, I find your observations interesting. I have, in fact, pretty much stopped buying saws off eBayware (still watch for sleepers, though). The problem is that here in Houston the only saws I see at the flea markets, pawn shops (usually too high), resale shops, etc., are small saws like Craftsman, Poulan, & maybe the occassional Echo. Jonsereds are nonexistent here.

Maybe I can find some decent flea markets northeast of Houston, where there are still plenty of good sized trees.

A friend of mine gave me this McCulloch last week. I'm itching to give a go at some 20" alders.
