Just don't pull the drum and leave the clutch, and then rev it up!
that was running with the brake engaged. no change either way. It's going to drive me crazy until I figure it out....Engage the brake and see if it stops.
hi, did you find what was causing this? My chainsaw as the same problem..that was running with the brake engaged. no change either way. It's going to drive me crazy until I figure it out....
Wait till you get older!I don't hear anything unusual for a chainsaw.
BTW.........I never step on my saws to start um................
I have 40 plus saws, a lot of them do this, it's just the clutch drum ringing.that was running with the brake engaged. no change either way. It's going to drive me crazy until I figure it out....
I'm 66 and I could still start my MS-461R w/o using a foot.Wait till you get older!
IMost stihls I've run sound similar. Never really bothered me. I just figured it's what they sounded like. Patina for the ears
Yep.I have 40 plus saws, a lot of them do this, it's just the clutch drum ringing.
interesting, thank you, is there a fix to that (change clutch springs?)? Could you be a bit more specific on the problem thank youIt's the centrifugal weights, loose and rattling on the central clutch hub spider, my 550 sounds like this (mines much worse to be honest!) if you take the brake cover off you will see that the weights are loose on the clutch hub!
The only thing to do if the weights are worn is to replace the clutch completely, as all of the components will be worn out.interesting, thank you, is there a fix to that (change clutch springs?)? Could you be a bit more specific on the problem thank you

Saw will be still usable for a good while like this, I've had clutch springs break but never had a clutch itself blow apart, the clutch drum is a different matter!!
