I am working on my chain display, these will eventually get mounted on a board and go up on the wall in the front room for all to see. If anyone out there has a piece of 5/8 pitch chain, 3/8 skip, 3/8 semi-skip, 404 semi-skip, or (laf laf) straddle scratcher chain I'd like to get a piece with two RH and two LH cutters. I have two or three loops of scratcher available, I just need to decide which one(s) I want to break apart for display purposes.

I have some 7/8" pitch (with forged chisel cutters) and 3/4" harvester chain, several examples of 9/16" pitch, 12 or so different 1/2" pitch, and plenty of others.

I am intrigued by this loop of Pioneer chain, (bottom loop, I know the upper one is Stihl carbide) bigger than 1/4" pitch but smaller than .325...did Pioneer also experiment with .315" pitch?

I have some cutting to do next week. I wanted to put a 20” back on my 044, the sprocket tip was crunchy so I ultra sonic cleaned it and put a new rsc loop on. Then I cleaned up the rest of the saw. The 3450 I put away dirty and dulled. I had a big oak fall week before we moved so it was due. Good cleaning fresh grind on the chain. I have lots of saws. These are in my top 5.FEDD631B-F7EE-4F68-BA63-BCDC14044B5E.jpeg

Did you remove it from the bar to put it in the cleaner? If so do you re-use the rivets or fit new ones... I've only ever gotten new ones with a new sprocket

No, I just sunk it sprocket deep in a can of heated solvent that sat in a tank of hot water in the USC. C1D0F31B-5DA5-4619-A478-E6940900A7C4.jpegBF796D6C-A4F9-47A8-B172-62645969DB53.jpeg

You know that stuff works good when the can is rusty and the label is starting to fall off! LOL

I had the similar happen on an old can of DX carb and parts cleaner. Was stored on a wooden shelf and that stuff ate thru the bottom of the metal can!
Yeah that pre dates me at the shop. I was going to look at the packing slip. I’d guess early 80s. We put it in a windex bottle and spray the plow, snow blower buckets. Keeps the snow from sticking. Smells like a mix of cutting oil, kroil, and diesel.

Seats from my 68 c20. Had a broken support spring on the drivers side they break because of the way you get in and out of truck . This spring supports the outer edge on the bottom seat . I took the back of the seat apart to steam out the wrinkles 7DEBF7A9-1138-426E-B89E-B85E0989CBFF.jpeg

I made the spring from an old box spring for a mattress

Husqvarna 140S currently on the bench, about to be off the bench as soon as the new fuel hose and filter arrive which should be today. Gave it the full spa treatment. Cleaned everything, carb kit, AV mounts, few other minor things. Crank seals are still good which kinda surprised me. No longer has points, was converted to electronic ignition at some point in its past. I suspect it will be a nice little saw with the closed transfer ports.

Somewhere, a species just went extinct. Kind of like that Poulan?

Lotsa snow on the ground means it's a good time to do some more work on the bikes. This time a new piston for my Beta 300...while I'm at it, I'll knock out some head work and a little massaging of the ports. I'm mostly just correcting for a really wide stock squish band. The ports on these modern bikes are pretty darn good...it's not like the night/day difference that chainsaw porting is like.

Not the most accurate way to measure head volume, as the bike uses a domed piston, but it'll get me a base line so I don't end up with too much compression.

I’d like to find one of those or a super 380 but they’re not easy to come by. I’ve got a really nice PP330, had to put a new top end on it as the original hung a ring. Swapped the high speed nozzle for a non jet type (check valve was missing) and did a pretty conservative muffler mod. Removed the tube and added another window to the baffle. That saw runs surprisingly well.
