Did you turn the tensioner screw the whole way back?:greenchainsaw: :cheers:

I'm quoting from the 2007 Stihl Bar and Chain Catalog. A misprint?

A 36" 3002 mount bar on a 084/088/880 calls for 114DL of 3/8.

A 36" 3003 mount bar on a 066/660 calls for 114DL of 3/8.

Mine was the '06 book and like I said it didn't have the info for the 3/8's chain on the 3002 mount only the .404 but the .404 took 104 on the 3003 mount and 108 on the 3002 mount.

My book shows the 3/8's x .063 3003 mount as taking the same 114DL that you found for the narrow tip 6053 bar and 115 for the wide tip 9853 bar.

Brad, curiosity got the best of me so I dug through some other info, still did not get a 36" 3/8's x .063 ES bar in the 3002 mount but I did find a 36" Duramatic (hard tip bar) that takes 114DL are you sure you were looking at an ES bar??

I'm not doubting you just asking for my own edification. Thanks

The bar I have is a 3003 000 9653. After having the chain lengthened it now has 116 drive links and fits like it should.

When you say "large" mount Stihl do you mean the 3002 mount like for the 084, 088, MS880??

or are you talking about the 3003 mount like the 066/660 uses??

The reason I ask is;

I don't have the info for a 36" large mount (3002) Stihl bar in 3/8's x .063 but the info I have for the .404 x .063 in the 3002 mount vs. the 3003 mount says the 3002 mount takes four more drive links for the same size bar. Now thats in .404 so I would guess that in the 3/8's that would be more like the five or six links you say you are short.

Just a guess.

yeah, 3002 - sounds like you've found the problem.
Scott, I'll try adding 6 dls then, thanks

when I say doesn't fit, it's a little more than the tensioner...
