I'm quoting from the 2007 Stihl Bar and Chain Catalog.
A 36" 3002 mount bar on a 084/088/880 calls for 114DL of 3/8.
A 36" 3003 mount bar on a 066/660 calls for 114DL of 3/8.
Some of the older bars had a bigger belly.

When you say "large" mount Stihl do you mean the 3002 mount like for the 084, 088, MS880??
or are you talking about the 3003 mount like the 066/660 uses??
The reason I ask is;
I don't have the info for a 36" large mount (3002) Stihl bar in 3/8's x .063 but the info I have for the .404 x .063 in the 3002 mount vs. the 3003 mount says the 3002 mount takes four more drive links for the same size bar. Now thats in .404 so I would guess that in the 3/8's that would be more like the five or six links you say you are short.
Just a guess.
when I say doesn't fit, it's a little more than the tensioner...Did you turn the tensioner screw the whole way back?:greenchainsaw:
bar is 3002 001 9553, finally got that 3/8 nose for it! So can you tell me it's proper dl count?What is the part number on the stihl bar? and.. not all use 114dl..
