I have around 12 acres of land that needs to be thinned out, mostly pine, cedar, hardwoods less than 14" around. I will be cutting and burning these as scrap. Do I need to cut these s now or wait till the sap is down (fall/winter) if I cut them now about how long does it take for them to dry out enough to burn, the grandkids wanna have a large campfire every night.

Ideally you would wait at least one summer to let them season. If you just clearing, it really doesnt matter when you cut them.

If you have a hot fire going then you can keep adding green wood, you need enough heat to evaporate the moisture in the wood first.

You might have a market for the cedar. These little stumps sell for about $8 in hardware stores.

But you needn't be so fancy - a big drill bit and some side cuts will do it just as well.
