Wood ID ?
So what type of wood is this ? Its not a hard or softwood . But a intermediate hardwood.

Kinda looks like old mulberry.

Those smaller branches with the smooth bark from the same tree?

No winners yet . I thought you all where a bunch of timber tramps ? It is a cousin to the tree Indians used to make and hull layer canoes with .
 
I've cut some river birch that looked a bit like that. Maybe not exact, but it was a little smaller than the logs you have look to be.
