I got to handeling both the cylinder from an 028 and a 038 and the base bolt pattern looks identical and alot looks similar. I know the stroke is quite a bit different, like 31/33mm vs 36mm on the 038. You think that with the 038 crank/piston/cylinder and probably carb you make this beast? Or the the case and everything completely different? Im just wondering because I bought a 028 woodboss (not the super or the new 54 cc) and it forgot to come with balls. I figured hell, I like to tinker and this could be fun! Let me know what you think.

THanks

Not sure how you would get an 038 crank in an 028? I'm sure it could be done, but it is going to take more than a little machien work.

might be able to cut the head off it and mill both ends of the cylinder to bring the stroke down and keep the ports in a decent location provided the base flange didnt get too thin. In my head if you took 2-3mm off each end and made a new head it might be possible.

you machine the outside diameter of the bushing and press it in with a c-clamp or other suitable pressure application device (not a hammer) and then ream the inside diameter to the size needed. Shouldnt be that hard or just split the case and have a bushing made to press in.

Thats about 100% more work than i want to do!!! I was just interested in spliting the cases and putting a 038 crank in there, under a 038 piston and cylinder. Dammer!
