I have now rebuilt quite a few Ms 460 saws that had a pinched fuel line. The fuel hose gets the square end pushed into the holder so the carb is just pushed into the hose. Some get pinched almost shut because there not routed properly and get pinched when the carb is pushed in and tightened down. This runs them lean and that makes uggly pistons and bearings:cry: You guys might want to check yours out. Love the 460 but this is a problem for some. Anybody else seen this?

Can`t say as I have and I have been inside a lot of the 1128 series saws, seems like there is only one way to route the fuel line and have it connect up to the carb correctly.

Yeah but there's to much hose and it gets looped hard before going down to the tank.

Yep! one one of my friends , got it used and not run alot, after a few weekeds it started leaning out over time and couldnt get it to tune, so we thought carb and got her opened up and found the line was kinked, funny we thought it was just his saw, but what you have found it might be a recall thing.

Yes, I had that happen and I did it..Seems stupid in hindsight but not really that hard to do.
Best i remember the wires to the combo sw were misrouted and pushing on the fuel line and the carb got bolted down on the line.

The local Stihl tech had one brand new with the line pinched a couple weeks ago. Kind of odd how that slipped by. I beleive that everyone that leaves the factory goes through the little test where the fuel filter is removed and hooked to a fuel cell and run for a short period of time. But it did happen somehow.

OEM fuel line? I always pull the end of the line on to the carb nipple as far as it can go using a pair of hemostats or long needle nose pliers. The 044, MS440 ,046 and MS460 would all have the same problem if it were an epidemic.

Yup oem. The saws that I found the problems on were saws I bought on craigslist and ebay and were allready blown. I allways rebuild the carb when I fix saws and noticed the crimped lines after pulling the carb. The first 460 was bought on ebay and the seller said that a good friend of his just rebuilt the saw. He was not happy that it only lasted a week before locking up again. I'm sure the pinched fuel line caused both sets of piston and cylinders to fail. Some people just cut. I'm allways listening to the saw and can pick up a screamer. I keep a tach with me and usually check rpms before each day.
