Im looking into a stihl 064 thats for sale nearby. In the pics I got it looks to be in a decent used saw condition. Any opions on this saw? Pros cons?

Not much weight difference. I have a few of each and I reckon a couple of early 064's I have will run with a stock 660 I have got (with 30" bars).

064 is somewhat preferred to the 066 because of the weight difference. There is just over a full pound difference between an 064 and an 066. However, the power is very comparable. You can also put an 066BB kit on an 064 with some modifications and have a very light 99cc saw.
This forum is a little bad about sniping deals... You need to nab that 064 up pretty quick before someone else beats you to it!

They sure are nice saws! Lighter but comparable to a 066.

Here are some differences between the 064 and the 066:
Differences Crank Case and Measure
They aren't really recommended for milling because of the smaller flywheel, but you could change it out with an 066 starter cover, flywheel and brake lever.

There are quite some different types of 064's and the weight is also different for each model. If you buy it, you should have a look at the coil to see if it is a limited coil (like the 066 red light). It will have CDIC stamped on it but it won't have a red light. You should keep that in consideration when tuning the saw.
Here is some more info about the coils :)

There is also a thread about a crazy monkey doing all sorts of crazy stuff with an 064 :D

Well then it sounds like its time to add another stihl to the family. If I do ill be posting pics as soon as I get it. Thanks for all your opions, now just have to make it happen.

That saw will be some of the best money you ever spend. Mine is here for life...

Ok ill definitely check the crank out as best I can, I also intend to check compression and pull the muffler when I go to look at it.
