Its been busy around my place lately. After taking a year off from really doing any firewood processing at all, I've recently made it a priority to get my 2014/2015 wood put up before hunting season and the holidays arrive. First, had to do some cutting.

Ended up with this.

Dad showed up last weekend and together we got into the pile of cut rounds.

A few more to add from the blocking and splitting phases.

I also have to mention that I spent a few hours, several weeks back, at my girlfriends Dad's taking care of a big Oak that blew down. It was blocking the access trail to one of the hunting blinds.

Back in August, I also put in a new concrete patio near my side door which will be the new staging area for wood coming into the house. This will be where the firewood on skids is staged up before coming into the house.

As you can see I still have some trim to do and have to bolt down the aluminum channel that will be used as a backstop to keep me from driving a pallet into my back room.

And finally, here is a sample of this years wood on pallets and my setup for moving them around. Each skid is about 1/7 of a cord. That's as much as the old JD can comfortably handle, but if it keeps me from wheelbarrowing wood all over the yard, I'm all for it. Notice also that each one is a mini woodshed to keep the rain off.
