Stihl Pull Cord Question

Replaced the pull cord for my 440 with the precut part number and not sure what this plastic piece is supposed to do.

It doesn’t go through the grommet on the housing and it doesn’t slide up and down as far as I can tell.

that's the "rubber to rubber" gasket that makes it an "Elasto-Start" as stated above, goes in handle which in your pic seems to be farked up

Yea. Handle is the F’d up part. Makes sense now. Grabbed one after work. Guess I’ll have an extra pull cord.

Those handle assemblies aren't cheap but the Chicom ones Bailey's sells won't last for a hard use.

Best thing I ever fitted to my saws is the 046 rescue D handle.Cheaper than elasto also.

The Stihl one was $16 and something at a dealer so not to bad. Came with rope also.

Jet-ski pull rope handles are great when wearing thick gloves.
