Nah. Others have dug the grave. They are just jumping in.

    Close call on Sunday!

I admit I sometimes feel like a wimpy nerd in my orange chaps when other guys are just in their jeans, but posts like this get me over that feeling.

Yeah. That's my method. Never felt like I needed any other method.

    Let’s see your fall colors

Last weekend (Oct 6-8) my wife and I drove from NJ to near Lake George NY and rented a place just to see the peak colors. Not only were the colors not peaking, it was rainy and foggy all weekend. Hummpf.

    What's your knife mines a gerber 97223

My EDC is a Leatherman Wingman. I've learned to NEVER leave home without it. If I do, I always regret it. A few weeks ago I left my house and I had no idea that in 2 hours I would be up a 10-foot ladder installing a ceiling fan. Fortunately, I had my Wingman on my belt, which had all the tools...

    You burning yet?

Supposed to be mid-40s and raining tomorrow. I'll probably light the season's first fire to get rid of the dampness.

    Englander NC 30

We've had the NC13 for three winters and love it. We have 880 sq/ft on the first floor and it gives off MUCH more than enough heat.

    Anybody miss winter yet...?

Yesterday I pulled my summer clothes out of the attic and packed up my winter clothes. I hate that day every year. I am the anti-bear. I want to crawl into hibernation at the end of May then wake up on that first crisp day of September. I'm just miserable in the summer heat. Always have been...

    Wood stove and chainsaw

I use a plastic milk crate. Although I do keep all my wedges and a handheld sledge hammer in a soft tool case.

Looking at the Englander 30NC stoves? Can't beat this price!

We couldn't fit a 30 into our living room (due to necessary clearances), but we've been very happy with our NC13.

Does wood season better in the winter or summer?

Not in my yard. Pretty much my entire yard is in the shade. It's quite wonderful, but it sure doesn't help oak season!

    girdeling an Oak tree.

When you're done, start a fire with all the smaller stuff and roast the goats! Yum!

    Cutting/Splitting for a Children's Camp

I'd love to be up there for many reasons. But NJ is a long way away... :(

    my little piece of Heaven

I call BS on that one. I watch all the hunting shows and I KNOW for a FACT that it is IMPOSSIBLE to kill a deer (even from inside a blind) if you're not wearing MossyTree Opti-max 3D-HD camo! It simply CANNOT be done!

    What's your favorite campfire wood?

I had a poplar blow down behind the house. I bucked it up and told the kids (17 - 21) to use that for their backyard camp fires so I could keep the oak to heat the house.

I'm further away than you are, but I'll bump the thread back to the first page for you.

How many of you wear eye protection ?

I need prescription glasses so I have some oversized frames (they looked fine in the 80s when I had long hair) with polycarb safety lenses. I also usually use the safety screen on my hardhat when chainsawing.
