    Stihl 462 or 500i?

I like my 500i so far, but I wish someone would explain to me why a Stihl wrap handle is $200+. I've been wanting to put one on my saw but damn that is hard to swallow.

Welcome! You've got some good saws. I am a huge fan of the 346XP!

    Firewood times for processing

Man, guys are selling split aspen and pine delivered for $400 here this year. That is for a full, legit cord, dumped in your driveway. I would love to get hardwoods for $200. I would probably quit cutting my own if I could get hardwoods for that.

    Dolmar 5105 carburetor adjust?

My EA4300 has the epoxied H screw but even with the cat gutted, it still four-strokes good at wide open. So, I'll get to the epoxy eventually. But, I'm at 6,000', so it's going to run rich, even with the cat removed and no adjustment on the H. I'm not sure how lean you'd be in Indiana.

    Synthetic Oil

I don't know if you guys have Home Depot up there, but my HD has Trufuel in quart cans for $5 and change and 1 gal cans for $20. I use it quite a bit because the nearest gas station to me that has ethanol-free gas is 50 miles away.

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

With a limited budget, you'll be doing fine with a 455. I had a 460 Rancher for a few years and it was a very reliable firewood saw. Don't let folks talk you into buying more saw than you need. Would you be better off with a pro saw? Yes. But do you NEED it? No.

Is this 026 Pro worth $325?

I paid $280 for one not as nice a month ago. So, a lot depends on where you live. I bet that saw would get $325 easy around here.

How many cut more than they have to just to run a saw?

I definitely cut more than I need, but I justify it because I live in the sticks, 10 miles out of town, and we lose power out here every now and then. It's cheap insurance. I can always count on keeping the house and shop warm, even without power. Plus, wood is much cheaper than propane.

Probably the saw I use the most is my 353. I'd love to get it ported someday.

Best way to brighten/polish plastic covers?

I've used boiled linseed oil cut with laquer thinner on a couple of my ATVs and it definitely brought back most of the color, but it's far from perfect and will need reapplied periodically. Like Snelling said, you have to get through the chalky crust and down to fresh plastic. I did my old Honda...
