    Fixs for "Rocked Chain"

Occasionally I get too close when cutting and my chain touches a rock. Wondering which would be quicker/better. The Harbor Freight grinder or one of those electric hand held "Dremel" types from Stihl or Oregon. Thanks for the replies.

    Pole Saw Decision

I ended up ordering a Skil brand. Auto oiler and price was right. 2.5 amp battery but can upgrade to 4 amp. I think it will be enough to do what I want. Time will tell.

    Pole Saw Decision

I want to get a pole saw to trim branches around my hayfields, pastures, lawn etc. I probably won't use it but every year or two. I'm thinking a battery unit will sit idle better than a gas model. Biggest limbs I will cut are 4" or less. I don't want to go "cheap" but don't need a professional...

Stihl MS 261 Vs. MS 362

What years were the various versions of 362s? I have one of the models before m tronic came out. Been a good saw.

    STP Bar and Chain

Anyone use it? It is 12.99 at Auto Zone here. TSC is 15.99. Regularly 16.99. They want 24.99 for Husqvarna Bar and Chain. Ace and Grey Bottle Stihl 24.99

    Husqvarna Question. Trying to learn.

Looking over Husqvarna website, I am curious to learn something. The 550XP lists for 679.99USD. It is a 50cc saw, produces 4hp and 3.15nM of torque. Weight is 11.7 lbs. The 555 lists for 749.99 USD. It is around 59cc,produces 4.15hp and 3.51nM torque and weighs 13 lbs. I hear good things about...

    CCs and Horsepower confusion

I hear people talking about "50cc class" or "70 cc class" saws. When I look at one manufacture, they rate one 50cc saw at 3.2, another at 3.6 and another at 4.0 horsepower ratings. Both they and another brand have 60cc class saws rated around 4.7hp. Another example would be a 59cc saw which...

    Backup for MS362

I have an MS 362 with a a bar setup of 3/8,.050. Currently run a twenty inch bar. Does all my "big" cutting. What would you recommend as a backup for it?🤔 Something to limb and saw 18" and smaller diameter wood. Minimal weight a plus. Looking at MS 261, Echo 4910 and 501p, and Husqvarna 545 or...

Best Chain saw for under $1200.00 to buy for cutting trees once a month or so, not every week?

You may want to visit the dual dealerships first. Ask what their customers prefer and see what they stock. You can learn some just talking to them about which they prefer and why.. If you see a logger or landscaper in the parking lot, ask them about their choice. Some may be just brand loyal...

Best Chain saw for under $1200.00 to buy for cutting trees once a month or so, not every week?

I was raised around Fords. Both autos and tractors. Still have Ford tractors and a Ford pickup plus our Explorer. My one ton and 2 1/2 ton trucks are Chevrolets. As much availability and price at the time as anything. Both good trucks. Would I buy a Kubota? If it was what I needed and the price...

Best Chain saw for under $1200.00 to buy for cutting trees once a month or so, not every week?

I know what you're saying. I've sawed with an 026 and that is a nice size. In reality, I could do about all my cutting with one. The 261 is up about 4hp now.

Best Chain saw for under $1200.00 to buy for cutting trees once a month or so, not every week?

In my limited experience, the 261 and like saws do better with .325 pitch chain. My son switched to 3/8 on his Farm Boss and didn't keep it on long. The 3/8 LP on the small saws is a different matter. Narrow kerf.

Best Chain saw for under $1200.00 to buy for cutting trees once a month or so, not every week?

I'll throw in my 2 cents. First off, you need to find what works best for you. You are trying to do that. I encourage you to look at dealer support very closely. The difference between Stihl and Husqvarna is similar to argueing over Ford and Chevrolet. A good helpful dealer close by is...

Quality alternatives to Stihl saw chains

If you are cutting dirty wood, switch to a semi chisel like Stihl RM or Oregon BPX with semi chisel cutters. Do not cut quite as fast in green wood but stay sharp longer in dirty or dead wood. In my learning experience over the years, you can run a file over a chain and have it shine but it...
