With all of the help you all have given me I think that as long as the Stihl manual states that I can use either a resistor or non-resistor plug I may as well stay with a non-resistor plug in my chainsaw.
Thank you everyone for the help and suggestions. Best, Preston
Now that's the main question that I'm asking. My Stihl manual says that I can use either. Maybe I'm missing something here but, I just don't understand why I would want to use a resistor plug if I don't have. But, again maybe I'm missing something.
My Stihl manual says to use either a Bosch WSR 6 F OR a resistor - type NGK BPMR 7 A. When would I need to use a resistor type of a plug? Is one superior to the other? Can someone jump in here and help set me straight?
Thanks.
Found It!!! You are correct. I had overlooked that part of the manual. It does state that a full chain oil tank is sufficient for only a half of a tank full of fuel. And, that's exactly what I have been experiencing. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention.
Thank you for your reply. Does your HT-131 use more b/c oil while you still have gas left in the tank? Mine use a full tank of oil when I have about a half of a tank of gas left in the tank.
Your comment makes sense to me. I guess that I'm just used to my other two (different displacement sizes) Stihl saws running out of gas while still having some oil left in the reservoir. I wonder what other users of these saws have to say. Thanks for the thoughts.
That's a good idea. But, it would be good to know if this normal consumption and what other owners of these types of Stihl pole saws experience. Thanks for the reply.
My Stihl HT 130 pole saw goes through a full tank of bar oil for a half tank of fuel consumed. I know that there isn't an adjustment for the chain oil flow on the pole saw but this seems to be a bit excessive. I'm using the Stihl orange bottle of bar oil if that should make a difference. Do...
With the new information in hand I was able to discuss the issue with my Stihl dealer (30+ miles away one way). He believed that it could be the one-way ball check valve that is in the bar oil tank that supplies the oil to the chain could be partially stuck open. He removed the tank and...
Thank you for checking. I'm pretty handy in mechanical repairs and would like some written info for reference so that I don't mess something up. The nearest Stihl dealer is over 30 miles away. So I hoping to save myself a long drive.
Thanks for the reply. I had already checked the manual thread before I asked for help here. I'm new to the forum so I may have missed it. But, would really appreciate the help in the repair of the leak. Best.
