We are just hacking down dead cedar for fire wood. I was curious about the Stihl chain the guy mentioned in the muffler mod video but I’m happy to use Oregon and just sharpen them on side of trailer. Is it worth fooling with the muffler mod or would I have to get it tuned?

Picked up a 2511-t 14” and wondering what the best chains are to run in that saw. Also, we will be at the ranch taking down dead cedar. Most trunks are 12” and less and we usually use our Stihl MS 192 & 193. Saw one muffler mod video where he suggested a Still PS Pico 3/8” low profile chain...

@svk - You may have to dumb that down for me. Last time I went to the Stihl Dealership they sold me a couple that fit bit they weren’t the “3005 000 4809”

@svk - Thanks for the advice. I’ll see if I can find some PS or PS3 for my Echo. As far as the 14” bars go on my 192 & 193... The bar on the 192 is so worn all markings and lettering are gone. The bar on the 193 says, “3005 000 4809”

Howdy, I noticed yesterday there is a different chain listed as being compatible with the CS-352 and CS-361p. CS-352 - 91PX/91VG CS-361 - 91PXL57CQ Length and pitch (9.53mm-3/8”) are the same. Wondering if the better chain advertised on the 361 can be used on the 352. Or any better chain...

@EchoRomeoCharlie - Perfect explanation. We are on the same page. I think I’ll move to small 14” rear handles for that reason. To discourage one hand and overhead use and add a little more hand separation.

Unless there is a sale between now and Christmas the 352 may be the ticket. We’ve use the 290 once in the last 5 years to drop a freakishly huge cedar that was dead. So we use the 192 & 193 almost exclusively. I was leaning toward a small rear handle just to force my cutting companions to...

@Colt Marlington - Perhaps I’ll pick up a 352 at retail for the holiday cutting and wait later for a $361 at 20% off. Unless there are any Black Friday deals. Need the saw before Christmas. If the 192 dies soon I’ll need both anyway.

@Colt Marlington - I had a hard time finding comparisons on the 352 vs 361. The 352 is available at Home Depot for about $150 less than the 361 ($259 vs $409) Perhaps the 352 is plenty since we’ve been getting by with the Stihl 192 & 193 Is the 361 harder to start? Also, is it $150 better...

@sunfish - Thanks!! Certainly nothing wrong with Stihl. I own a bunch of their equipment. My MS290 and MS193 have unfortunately sent me looking for a different brand of chainsaw. Lots of repairs on the 290 and the 193 is just plain fickle. I’m sure my beloved 192 is getting close to end of...

@Conquistador3 - I can’t figure out how to get to those joints. I’ve removed carb, top plate, both side plates & handle linkage but can’t figure out how to break apart the bar oil & gas tank. I think it’s leaking bar oil.

I have a MS192TC & it’s leaking. Can’t really tell if it’s gas & bar oil or both. I broke down the saw & the gas lines under handle look to be fine. Must be leaking from somewhere around the tank or the bottom. Can’t find any videos online describing how to fix. Any help would be...
