    Sold Husqvarna 562XP

I'm selling my big saw, a 562XP w/18" b&c. It's in great shape and I had the dealer check it out, only 83 hours on it so far. I no longer cut much of my own firewood, so this saw mostly sits and collects dust on the shelf. $425 is the asking price and it comes with a new, still in the box, chain...

Survery about homesteading/farming - help my wife on her Thesis

My wife is doing her Master's and it focuses on homesteading. She has created a survey to help her get data about current farms and homesteads. If you have any experience in this field, please help and fill it out. Thanks!

    Poulan Pro

I was hoping to be able to find a generic spline tool that would fit but haven't found ANY generic spline tools. Where could I get one? What was yours called on the package etc?

I think that this, along with other things, really points to AutoTune and similar being the future.

That's what he was saying. If it was making dust (dull chain) as opposed to throwing chips (sharp chain) there wouldn't be enough resistance on the engine and the rpms would increase.

    Poulan Pro

Yup. Luckily you can make one with a wooden dowel, which is what I'm going to do.

    Poulan Pro

Just found this: Husqvarna 530035560, Carb Service Tool, 530 03 55-60 It says not for sale anymore, but lets you check out. With shipping its about $13 for me. I ordered one. **edit** They rejected the order and refunded my money. They need to get this off their site.

    Poulan Pro

Doesn't sound right. And I'd be willing to bet it's more than 12 points. It's a knurled connection.

    Poulan Pro

How did you adjust the carb without the tool? Maybe all you did was turn the idle speed up...

    Poulan Pro

That sounds more reasonable, but check the link. "1 new from $39.95" is all that is listed. I can't find them on eBay right now either other than in a $60 kit that has 3 others bundled with it.

    Poulan Pro

$40 really? Seems high for such a basic tool. I read this a while ago somewhere on here and saved it as a note: "Using a piece of 1/4" dowel rod, center drill it with a 9/64" drill bit and then gently tap it on the screws." Now you have a wooden adjuster, should work just fine.

How does Auto-Tune or M-Tronic work?

So it pulls power from the ignition coil?

How does Auto-Tune or M-Tronic work?

Great videos. Interesting how it uses a magnet coil similar to a voicecoil on a speaker to move the "needle" that adjusts the fuel flow. Great idea. So I guess the computer etc gets all it's power from a small generator coil on the saw or something? Is there a small battery that will need...

How does Auto-Tune or M-Tronic work?

So it is a rotating assembly of some sort? Whether you call it a valve or a screw doesn't matter to me so much, I was just curious if it was adjusting the flow of a needle or if it was modulating pulse on an injector or something. Neat.

How does Auto-Tune or M-Tronic work?

Ok, so it is a servo turning a screw then. What about the L screw though? And for that matter, it must have an idle screw it adjusts....

How does Auto-Tune or M-Tronic work?

I know what it monitors and that it adjusts the carb, but how? Are there little screws and the computer activates servos to turn them? Some sort of fuel pump system and it adjusts the pressure? What's going on in there?

Keep Poulan Pro 330 or get Poulan Pro 5020 or other saw?

I guess it's possible, but it seems to run just fine. It might even just be tuned rich? But I seriously think it has to do with emissions levels. I mean, the 330 is a great saw, but it is built with 1980's technology. Saws just didn't run as clean back then. But it could be the way it is...

Keep Poulan Pro 330 or get Poulan Pro 5020 or other saw?

I think you had to be logged into that other site for it to work. Huh, so they are within .1 lbs of each other then. Must just be better balance then. Any way you cut it, I'm happy. That's like some of these newer snowmobiles. I had a 1989 Skidoo Mach1 583 liquid, it weighed over 500lbs...

Keep Poulan Pro 330 or get Poulan Pro 5020 or other saw?

I only see the 562 on the scale, where is the picture of the 330?

Keep Poulan Pro 330 or get Poulan Pro 5020 or other saw?

It is, it's an absolute blast to run. Also it feels like it's probably 1-1.5lbs lighter than the 330 but I haven't actually weighed them and wonder if maybe it's just ergonomics.
