    Borate treating of boards

I have had good luck with just 20 mule team borax mixed with water. My slabs are stacked under a shed, so are somewhat protected from rain. Untreated slabs look like swiss cheese. Borax treated slabs are not infested. This is with white oak slabs.

how to alaska mill to get usable first and last boards?

Don't have any pics, but I have used a set of scaffolds with adjustable screw feet. I let the Granberg mill ride on a stiff 2X12 that was on the scaffold. The log was placed under the scaffold. Worked quite well. I hope this makes sense.

Silvey Grinders may be going out of business.

I bought it from Simington maybe 4 or 5 years ago. The bottom corner does the grinding. Just like the top corner when you are sharpening a tooth.

Here is a poor pic of it.

Chisel Chain sharpeners . . . Silvey vs Simington

Simington has an optional add-on chain holder that is for grinding rakers. Round ground keeps an edge better in dirty wood conditions. I prefer square regardless. The Simington grinder can grind round or square chain.

    Rabbit Damage

I wrap the trunks of small seedlings with tin foil in the fall. Remove in the spring after green up. Works great.

Been gone for a while, here's a few splitters I've built recently.

Do you have a rough idea of what a "builders kit" will be priced at? And what it will include?

Been gone for a while, here's a few splitters I've built recently.

Have you considered making & selling wedge parts/assemblies? And possibly the slider plate assembly? I would think that these parts could be produced on a small scale & shipped. I would certainly be interested....

    grinder which one

There is some mis-information above...... Most, if not all, square chain grinders will also grind round chain. I've done it with my swing arm grinders. Only problem is that you will have to swap out grinding wheels or redress the wheel each time you change from round to square (or vice versa).
