I want to try square chain.have you used goofy files.is it easier.i have a 24"narrow kerf bar but it is for milling.it does crosscut real fast.

I use my 395 24"bar on alot of small wood.it has a 8t sprocket but I still have to push it to cut fast.is a 9tooth to much for firewood cutting?

I live in the country so noise isn't a issue.

i neeed the decomp cause this 039 is getin a popup and portin other than that it is a plastic saw its waitin behind a bunch of better saws(dolm120,husq372+,etc)it was my first mid saw.now im spoilt husq395+dolmar9010?

my stihl guy told me i can drill and tap my 039 cylinder for a decomp.i was a machinist so shouldnt be to hard but any advise or pics would be great.id like to do the same on a ms250 also.

would a .404 8 tooth work.i could see it not fitting the bar.and on a 346 there isnt much room for a taller?(example stihl 3003)bar.

also can i delete the primer bulb on 346.and i have a husky 365 special coil thats black i wanted to replace the blue one with.it fits ok.my husky dealer said the timing is different.also the flywheels are different sizes ?
