    Stihl SH85 shredder vac....

SH85 Nice Piece of Equipment This fall will mark two years with my SH85. I had it out yesterday cleaning up leaves that over wintered around the house and under bushes. I have had zero problems with mine. I use it in a homeowner application, have about 1/2 acre, and a lot of trees. I have...

    Homelite xl

I have always used 16:1 in my Homelite XL top handle. This saw has survived since I got it new for christmas in the early eighties. That is the factory recommended ratio as I recall.

    Please Boycott Dolmar OPE

Tony M, Sorry to hear about your situation. Consider the Dolmar embargo "ON"!! Rahtreelimbs, Dobosh may still sell Husky, but I'll never darken their door again. Worthless. It pains me to hear of a dedicated dealer getting the hook, knowing that folks like Dobosh continue on. From...

    Jotul woodstoves

This thread is in the wrong place, but I'll respond anyway. I use a Jotul Firelight CB non cat. stove. It works well and makes good heat. The glass stays clean, ashpan is large. It doesn't hold a fire overnight. I've used it for about 6 years now as supplemental heat.

    older 026 max RPM's???

Crofter, I'm no expert on the workings of the Stihl intellicarb, but a clogged air filter usually translates to a rich running condition. The danger would be to set the carb up with the clogged air filter, then clean the air filter. More airflow would produce a lean operating condition. Is...

Another which saw should i buy thread

Pensfan, A few suggestions with local flavor. One place I would recommend avoiding is Dobosh Center over by Century 3 mall. They have treated me poorly. I have had good service experience with Rhodes in Imperial and Vaccari in Venetia. Both of these dealers handle Stihl. For Husky...

    2 Stroke Oil

Mobil MX2t or racing 2t at 50:1. Wow, this topic never dies.

If you can't cut it, burn it! (Or, how a WildThing gets through wood.)

I cut some oak that the township cut back from the road. The ends that they cut all had severe burn marks. I guess when it isn't your equipment, abuse it all the way. I am glad that the wood is in my stove right now! I can look at the ends and know what not to do with my equipment! None of...

Rambling thoughts on PPE & saftey + a couple of questions

My dad owned a garage door business. He posted a very meaningful notice above the bathroom mirror. " You are looking at the person most responsible for your safety". I have taken this to heart and I will wear my chaps, gloves, and helmet system if I am running my 14" Homelite or my 28"...

My local dealer just refused service to me, any recs?

My two cents: Poor customer service for whatever "reason" is still poor customer service. The owner of the shop where you sought service made the decision to treat you poorly. Take your business elsewhere and forget that shop even exists. Enjoy your new saw and move on with life. As someone...

    Husky 350

Kenskip, I can't answer your question about the 350, having never used one. My post to your question is simply this: Prepare to be delighted when you get your new saw, whichever you choose! I spanned 19 years between saw purchases and the new saws are amazing. I took a step up, ok a leap...

    New Gas Formulations

Oil Mixture Ratio Question for Simonizer

16 Gauge, To my knowledge, the Poulan products all specify 40:1 (the saws in question are orange Poulans). If the manual says 40:1 in writing, and the dealer gives you verbal instructions for 50:1, I'm mixing 40:1. My Craftsman (Poulan) leaf blower did not specify the mix ratio anywhere...

    Stihl vs Husqvarna

For your first saw, jumping into the MS660 is going to be a leap! The advice of getting a good collection of wedges for keeping the cut open is valid. Make sure you get personal protective equipment to go with the saw. See if you can find a training course to help with the transition to that...

    Homelite XL2 Auto Problems

KY_Homelite, I have one of these saws, very usefull as a limbing tool once the "big" work is done. In your post you said that you put a new duck bill in the gas tank. I hope that this is a typo, and you meant oil tank. Just checking. With as much of the saw you took apart, I would suspect...

Do you trust 50 to 1 mix,or add more?

This must be the most discussed topic, EVER! I am pleased with mx2t at 50:1 in my saws. My 372 runs very clean and strong, and I just "standardized" the Pioneer to this mix. Run more oil if you like it that way, and can adjust the carb to run well.

    Cryo-genic treatment

Cryogenic treatment of steel is useful for transforming retained austenite to martensite. If the initial quench from the austenitizing heat treatment is in-effective through the cross-section of the work piece, there will be austenite that prevails into service. This is lost potential of the...

    Pine Pictures

Thanks for the feedback! I don't mind the pointers, I'm no pro. My only concern with this removal was hitting my shed (not in the picture, to the left of the picture) and I was successful. The tapered hinge was not entirely planned, I made my back cut from the "thin side" towards the "fat...

    Muddy logs

Cool video, that lumber is clean and pristine. Well off the forest floor. Get the tractor! Who was the "helpful" narrator quick to judge the fiber pull? What mix ratio were your running observing the blue haze???

    Pine Pictures

Thought I'd share a few pics of my backyard work area in the past few days. Sorry no pics before, just the after affect of a Husqvarna 372. Put the big bar on just because.... My wife took some video of bucking logs but not falling the trees (analog not digital, sorry). Shown...
