    Questions for the fuel experts

The only other option that I have considered, is to run down to Denver, and get some race gas don't go to a race track. those first three, are leaded racing fuel. the lead content is a lot higher in these than the avgas. The unleaded stuff in there has some appeal tho... Where I am, the wind...

    Questions for the fuel experts

Yes it does. they call it 100LL, low lead. max of 2.12 grams per gallon. quick poke of calculator, by weight, .00078 it ain't much. they leave just enough tetra ethyl lead in there to keep the valves alive in the older engines. In ancient (50 years ago?) history it was used as a octane boost...

    frankensaw went lean...

I was cutting with it the other day (half breed 064 with 066 fuel tank etc) and it started to run "funny" is this thing running lean? Yesterday I had a little more cutting to do, and concluded that indeed it is running lean. Fetched a screw driver and gave it a bit more on the L and H. No...

ok, now what with a leaky skid steer?

Finally figured it out. There is a unloaded in that thing. Evidently kinda necessary

ok, now what with a leaky skid steer?

I had a plan. Everyone has a plan until they get punched. I had no use for the auxiliary hydraulic valve in this machine. So, I started with the greasy plates underneath this thing. I can actually get to this thing now. Ok... The plan was to simply delete the electrical valve that looked like...

How fast can you change your bar and chain?

I would not start it up. likely not tension correctly. That would never happen with a outboard clutch...

Foley vs Stihl grinder, the "slide"

comparing apples to apples. Okay. Got it. Found a hunk of chain, and went and sharpened the 7 cutters, this a way, that a way, on both machines. I have been doing it wrongly on both machines! Atleast it is consistent that way! The foley 308 has the advantage of there being a smaller wheel, and...

I've about had it with pull ropes

Now, that is bling... I like it. I just might have to go that route... I agree, it might be a case of rope being short, but really... I have not had any severe issues with handles breaking, or ropes wearing out that quickly.

Foley vs Stihl grinder, the "slide"

Now, that is something that makes sense. armed with that, I will wander into the sharpen' shed. and do some head scratching.

Foley vs Stihl grinder, the "slide"

So I keep referring to the Stihl USG when I get confused as to which way to set the "slide" on the Foley 308 OK, I gaze at the USG, and it says that when the vice is swiveled this a way: That would be the left hand cutters. Ok... the marks call this the negative - from zero. Lean over and...

    Sold Pioneer p41f

Sold! and headed to Illinois already. It seems this gent likes the old Pioneers... It's worth saving, but it will take more than I am willing to do here.

    Sold Pioneer p41f

Might have a taker on this already. I just didn't want to see it end up in the scrap heap, when someone can make use of it. low compression, missing a piece of the air filter, weak spark, and a crack in the carburetor base.

    Pioneer P41F

The tag on the bottom says P41F, 80 is stamped for the date. Old Pioneer, not that old. but on the other hand it is 40 years... Can I fix it? he asked... :omg: So, before he even brought it out, I said it is 40 some years out of date, and if I were to put much time into it, I would be silly, or...

Anyone familiar with this guy's exhaust work?

interesting. Noise would be a little problem, but with a chainsaw... one should wear muffs (or equiv) anyway. Another interesting aspect, the muffler is (or should be) "tuned" to the intake, transfers, etc. Recently I worked on a old 290 Stihl. Nothing really wrong with the saw, but the muffler...

Tribute to my old good dog

Nobody (or beast) is going to live forever, but that is pretty hard to have all that at about the same time. Hang in there, and go cut a little wood to take your mind off things.

DON"T be an idiot!! ( A cautionary tale)

How many pulls did it take to collapse the fuel line? This was after they put bar oil into the fuel tank? ROFL, the thing was flat... We forget to check the simple stuff first.... I am glad that I switched out the chicom carb on my saw, but that is when I discovered that the fuel line had a...
