    firewood prices

What unit of measurement is a rick? I've read two threads in this section today with you using that term and it's absolutely meaningless. Firewood is measured in cords or fractions of cords. Period.

You're going to have to wait awhile on that one. That pile is 99% oak and is going to sit right there for a year or more.

Either your math is wrong or I guesstimated wrong on the pile size. That is 6 cord at a minimum. My FIL is usually pretty stingy when it comes to guessing things like this.

My father in law came over, looked at it for 2 seconds and said it was over 8. Does this mean I have to admit he was right?:cry:

My area and pile. I split this in 3 days. After day 1. I came out strong. No idea how much is in this pile. It's 7 feet high in the middle, and about 12 feet wide at the base.

    Creosote problem solved - hopefully!

They sell a product here in Maine called Maine Chimney sweep. It is essentially manganese mixed with other unknown ingredients. It works in the same way only a lot better than aluminum cans. The downside is you have to buy it at about $10 for a half gallon or so. It turns any sticky creosote...

    Thoughts on cheap splitter???

I rent one once a year for a weekend and split all my wood in 2 days. Usually 6 cords or so. Total cost is under $100.

    Cord King Firewood Processor Review

Here in Maine the ONLY legal way to sell is by the cord. A face cord, a rick, whatever other measurement you're using is just a way to get ripped off. A face cord is meaningless because you're missing the third measurement to know exactly how much wood you're getting. If someone...

    Cord King Firewood Processor Review

Nice processor. Please don't use face cords as a unit of measurement. It's cords. A face cord doesn't mean anything.

My old Allnighter. Throws some serious heat.

Does my furnace qualify for the $1500 tax credit??

What tax credit are you trying to claim exactly?

    30 ton splitter input

Looks exactly like the Northern tool one. NorthStar Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter — 30-Ton, 160cc | Log Splitters| Northern Tool + Equipment 30 ton is overkill in my opinion.

:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange: I live on the coast so it's not that bad. This was my house last year on Halloween though.....

Thanks! It was very nice. Pretty breezy but it's nice when everyone helps out. My wife even cut up some small stuff on the saw buck. First time for her. How dare you use such language. :D:D I'm hoping it holds off for another month. All of my wood is coming from where I'm making a new...

My new splitting and stacking area I've been clearing out. I have a nice pile of rounds started to work on this winter as well.

Get your wood ready, they're calling this one "Frankenstorm".

I will be absolutely stunned if it snows before Halloween 2 years in a row. I just spent the last 2 weeks off from work getting ready for winter so I don't care. Bring it. :D

    Kiln firewood

There is an outfit near me that sells it for $300 a cord. He says it sits in the kiln for a week. I don't remember what the temp was.

just too hot to get outside today!

It was pretty nice out today. You forgot to tell them how people in Maine start to ##### and sweat when it gets above 80. :msp_w00t::msp_biggrin::msp_biggrin:
