Looking for ideas on processing 2-3" sticks

This is what I use. I now have a rope with a cam action cleat that I wrap around the limps and it holds them real tight. I start cutting the outside about 18” pieces and work to the center. I build it for an 18” cut Down the center. It is easy to move.

    Wood splitter hydraulic tools.

Also if the unit sits out in the rain water can enter through that vent hole. Put a cover over plug If it sits outside. My vent hole sits at an angle facedown so water cannot easily enter the tank.

    Wood splitter hydraulic tools.

Before putting a pin in the hole in the square top, check to see if that hole is an air vent for your tank. If it is an air vent there should be a connecting hole on the dipstick side of the plug. My splitter dipstick plug has a vent hole in it.

    Why i heat with wood.

It is always good to have a wood stove. I was a little short on wood when this deep freeze warning for our area was issued. I worked hard to process what I could to get by. Friday the lowest temperature day; 7*, my AC Heat Pump system failed. A call to my AC company and they would be out in the...

    Stacking firewood on guard rail

This is my setup. I made 2 cattle feeders about 20 years ago. Not needed now so I repurposed one for firewood. Works well. I’m getting ready to repurpose the other one. They are 20‘ long but I’m going to cut them in half, so 4 10 footers. I can stack 2 rows 18”. They rest on cut RR ties. I’ll...

    My Perfect Limb Cutting Sawhorse

That is an option. I don’t need to store. I just leave it set up. Anyway I said it is not for everyone.

    My Perfect Limb Cutting Sawhorse

Perfect for me but not for everyone. I cut thin, medium and thicker stock. Designed for an 18“ cut length. I work from each end towards center. Then a final center cut. Thin stock goes into barrels. Thicker stuff gets stacked. Easy to move around. Saves time from my past ideas.

    Tree ID

Thanks all for the info. My wife stayed here for the winter-spring. She told me we have a Cherry tree which blossomed with white blooms and was loaded with sweet cherries. So I had her point it out to me. I compared the leaves to the old trees I needed ID on and they are the same. So they appear...

    Tree ID

Thanks all for the replies. The pictures help. I will do a close up comparison. I’ll research the mentioned trees. I plan to transport my splitter up here. Lots of wood to buck and split. The leaves pictured are from this tree. I failed to mention that in OP. Thanks again.

    Another homemade Hookaroon

Today I was throwing some old wooden model airplane wings on my burn pile. As I threw them on the pile, low and behold I saw about 8” of the handle on the missing Hookaroon. I yanked out of the burn pile and was so happy to see it again. I have gone around that burn pile half a dozen times...

    Another homemade Hookaroon

Thanks U&A. Well, here is the final product. It now needs the handle wrap and a screw on PVC cap. The cap keeps the hand from sliding off. The weight is not a problem for me. I’m taking this one to Pennsylvania in case the missing Hookaroon is not there. I need a Hookaroon there.

    Another homemade Hookaroon

I lost or misplaced my old Hookaroon that I’ve had for years. I can’t remember if I might have taken it to the property in Pennsylvania. My old memory is not working too good. If it is not there then it is in the tall grass in my back pasture here in Texas. That is not good because I’m sure my...

    ID Poison Ivy n Tree

Thanks all for the info. I have a big mess to clean up there. I wondered about leaf shape but it seems PI comes in different leaf shape. The berries are another give away. I will take no chances and treat it as PI. The whole mess has to come down from that tree. I’ll know more when I visit the...

    ID Poison Ivy n Tree

Wooded area in Pennsylvania. Tree appears to be coated in Poison Ivy, by my guess. If it is Poison Ivy what is the best method to kill and remove it. The tree pictured is from Omaha. Would like to know what tree this is. Thanks for the help.

    Best Hookeroon/Pickeroon?

The point on my hookaroon I use to push and roll logs or bucked pieces. Or I pry logs apart. I also use it for 2 handed lifting of any heavy pieces. It sure works good. And as pointed out I can stick in the ground and easily find the tool. For rolling heavy logs I made my version of a can’t hook.

    Best Hookeroon/Pickeroon?

I don’t know a thing about store bought. When I saw a thread here about Hookaroon I had to make one. This one has served me well for years. I can pull, push, pry and lift with it. Best feature, I stick it in the ground and it is right handy.

    Show us your jigs!

I made one of those smart holders out of wood. Worked good but too slow for me. This is my current wood holder. I can cut many limbs at one time. Large logs too. If I can lift it, I’ll put it on the holder. Since this picture was taken I have added wood pieces to the rails to recut pieces that...

    Champion 27 ton Issues/questions

If you can weld or have a friend who can, you can make a custom log cradle for your splitter. I made this one years ago. Pulls off when not needed. A small in-feed cradle would also be good, which I don’t have.
