088 cylinder on a 084?

Has anyone put a 088 cylinder on a 084? I picked up a good 084 bottom yesterday with no cylinder and piston. I do however have a 088 cylinder and piston. I do know that if I machine the sides of the cylinder base a hair that it will physically fit. And if I can overcome the difference in base bolt size than it will "bolt on". Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this. Mabe it's been done but doesn't work good? Any help would be appreciated before I waste a good cylinder for nothing. Thanks

The muffler mount it's totally different. Decomp is different, do plastic won't fit.

This must be an 088 cylinder then. It has the same muffler port.

I think I'm confusing thinks for you. IIRC it's the 088 that had the clamp on muffler I was thinking of. I don't recall if the early 880 was clamp or screw on. Sorry.

2012 MS880 with spring loaded clamp on muffler.

No mistaking the big honking cast aluminum muffler.

Later 880s then went to the stamped stainless steel, bolt-on muffler.

It'll work if the exhaust is the bolt on style.

Yes it's the bolt on muffler style head.

The MS880 went to the stainless muffler 2009/2010 ,if i had a 084 with a shagged cylinder a new model 880 cylinder would be on the cards as a replacement ,
