2 pumps inline ?

What's anybody think.2 pumps inline,but only one running.Second one sitting idle just as back up no power.Would the one pump struggle pumping water thru ?

Just have too ask, don't no what a water pump has to do wuth the firewood ,heating Forum. If it was a hydralic pump then could be for a log splitter so thus asking the ?

Don't run them in series. Parallel them instead.

Use check valves to keep water from back flowing through the other pump.

Parallel = same psi as one pump just moves more gpm
Series = same gpm but more psi. (have to consider hose max psi capability with this)

What is this for? sprinkler or fire protection?
 
Assuming we are talking circulation pumps for an OWB, I think TPA has it right.

Don't run them in series. Parallel them instead.

Use check valves to keep water from back flowing through the other pump.
