288 carb rebuilding question

Rebuilding carb and took everything apart to clean. Put back together matching what came out!( not always correct) My question is ...Does tan nylon screen “have” to be installed? There was not on removed. See pics if need be. Gaskets were removed and are stuck to diaphragm etc.

Yes, that's the fuel pump diaphragm. Your old one was black and is stuck to the gasket. See the attached diagram for the correct order.

So old was black is my guess? And the kit must come with both? I put black rubber in so I should switch it out for tan? Thanks in advance!

gotcha, yes lots of kits come with both... there's a comparison floating around the internet but I'm not sure how much value it holds.
