This may seem like a strange question but would a 3/8” pitch chainsaw ride on #35 chain sprocket? I know that chainsaw sprockets are wider than roller sprockets, but as far as the pitch & the geometry is it the same?

I have become curious about this since I have seen a few guys running Briggs vertical shafts as power heads on on some chainsaw mills. I’m not sure how they are connecting the shaft to the chain. I assume they are welding or attaching a chainsaw sprocket of some kind to a hub or pulley. In some cases there is no jack shaft. Attachment is strat from shaft to chain. I’m shocked at how fast they cut given the direct connection = low chain speed from a 4 stroke, but the 4 stroke torque must make the difference.
