Pics of the new fence on the left side of the house:

This thread is making me feel good about our recent family home move...to a 2-acre lot with forest and the nearest neighbour over 150' away...:)

Good luck with your neighbour though!

Ya we too have no near neighbors, it's nice to do what you want and not piss nobody off in the process. That's why we left the city where everybody pulls out their tape measures and starts arguing about property lines. Don't miss that one bit.

Pics of the fence replacement on the right side of the house (the one where the neighbor wants a tan fence)
The lattice is a extenstion I had to get from home depot due to the small opening which was too small to fit a fence in there without keeping the fence height even.

It's not done as you can see I still got to cut it parallel to the fence post. It was getting too hot at that time and had other projects to finish at the same time.

The last 2 posts before the lattice, they had to use rock drilling tooling to get the steel posts up before the white pvc posts was placed over it and screwed into place.

The fence contractor guarantees his work to withstand hurricance winds.

The gate is going to be installed within 2 days as the concrete was still curing and the fence contractor didn't want to put too much stress on it while it's still curing due to the deck construction and high traffic from the front to back of the house at the same time.

Also the dirt you see on the bottom of the fence, that was my property being used by the neighbor for landscaping on the other side of the old fence.
Now it's reclaimed for good.

now I would pramitol the hell out of the outside so he could not plant anything next to it.

Soooo....all has been quiet and good ever since I put the fence up...

Until last week the bad neighbor had his driveway redone, contractors came over to chop up the old driveway and left a mess on the street, they also made the driveway wider by a foot (illegal per town codes) and it was pretty obivious since there's a concrete slate under there and all they did was dug out the grass from the left side and filled in with gravel while waiting for asphalt.

Came home on a thursday afternoon and saw their driveway has been dug up and l took pics with my BB and called the town building dept...the inspector asked me if the crew was still there which I replied with 'no'.

Went by the town hall to pick up the school tax papers a few days later, saw the building inspector and chatted a little, asked if anythings up with the driveway on Ridge Rd., he said they've been issued a stop work order and fined $450 for failure to apply for a permit, illegal width change without town's approval, and the contractor show in court is mandatory due to him having a Westchester county contractor licensce but not following protocols.

He also told me the court date which I am going to waste my time showing up to complain.

Payback is a b!tch

Very happy with the fence, powerwashed it twice to clean the mud splashes off of it from the heavy rain recently.
They brand is: http://www.interstatevisions.com/

The green giants are growing fast, about time. The ones that are growing the fastest are in the neighbor's kitchen window's path. 7 ft and still going.

Update: All is good, the green giants are growing taller than the fence on the bad neighbor's side now!
Looks like next year they won't be able to see my backyard from their kitchen windows.

Just got back from eating at a new italian restaurant that had it's grand opening today, seen familiar faces from old times and old buddies. Owner is a long time friend of ours.

While talking at the table, a older couple came over to say hi and asked how we're doing...I didn't recognize them for a few seconds til found out they're the parents of the idiot that lives on the 2nd floor on the bad neighbor's side...they apologized for their son's behavior and assured there won't be any more problems and asked if we're all right on this.

I was a bit surprised about this and find it strange they're apologizing for their 50+ yr old son behavior...

Guys/Gals,

I want to give you an update...been busy with work latey (got promotoed)

Merry Christmas and Happy new 2012 everyone!

In 2011, I used the 361 to cut and trim my christmas tree ;)

Anyways big discovery last week:

I was helping my father clear out an house since he's moving and sold the house....

Was in the basement cabinet to go thru the papers to shred or keep and saw this brown envelope in it with my address with my address on it from 1981.

Low and behold, I opened it and there was blueprints of my house in there. Then I opened this white folder in it and there was an permit dated December 23rd of 1981 for 'installation of 8' foot fence' !!!

Signed by the building inspector who retired before the current one took over!

I brought it to the building inspector and said "you told me you were sure there's no permit for an fence on file..." then I took out this original permit and showed it to him. He put his glasses on and was shocked to see this!

I told him all the stuff I had to go thru to get an variance for a permit that wasn't on file until now and have been denied....and now this was found.

He made a copy of the permit and I told him I am going to raise my fence from 6' to 8', will I have any problems with this?

He said "I don't see why not...it doesn't say where so it applies to all on your property"
I made sure I got clarification on this since the permit was issued in 1981, it goes by the codes that was valid at that time, hence being 'grandfathered'.

I said "the neighbors will complain and how do we handle this?" He responded with "don't worry about them, I will deal with them"

Just called my fence guy and he recommend an solid extenstion on top of the 6 foot fence since it can be extended and is strong enough to withstand hurricanes and he gaurentees it the same as the original fence. I told him to do it to all of the fences.

One thing tho, the white PVC door to get into the backyard is a one piece 6 foot and he has to replace that to make the top line all even.

Tomorrow he's going to give me an estimate and I am going to approve it!

If the neighbors come up to me, I will not show them the permit I have. They will have to see the building inspector office for it.

VICTORY at last!!! This is like killing Bin Laden all over again!

I will await the day the fence guy comes with his workers to install the extenstion and the new 8' door! :D

And that shall not be more than a month!

Just read this whole thread from start to finish and I must say I applaud your determination to get this done!

Amazing luck on finding that 1981 permit as well! I bet the bad neighbors blood pressure is going to shoot through the roof when he sees your fencing guy adding the extension on!

bad neighbor..

Sir,
i dont know what you should do..... but i know what i'd do....... i would try my best to ignore him..... if he came on my land and started ####...... i'd happily say "no one talks to me like that" ....and then i would put my thumb in his eye and blast his teeth out the back of his head..... i'd say he came at me in a threatening manner....i dont like it,-- but..... the ground under my feet... i own it god damn it! just before they put him in the ambulance i would tell him he's lucky i did not bite his nose off. hope this helps

Fence guy just called back with an estimate. Without hesitation, I approved it!

Materials are being ordered, expected to start installation next week!

And today is the day!

Fence guy coming with materials and his workers to install them.

I see my neighbors left for work :D

What's just wrong?

That he's a link spamming pos. He's just doing it wrong:spam::spam:

It's all done!!!

While halfway through, I got a knock on my back door from the fence crew. He told me there's a code officer here. I came outside and looked at him until he asked for my name.
He said they got a lot of complaints calling in and said it got to come down to 6 ft. I asked him who he is, he didn't understand at first until I said "Who are you?!" then he showed me his shield and business card. I questioned him and had to escort him off my property because he did not properly identifiy himself as a officer until questioned and still questionable until I showed up at the building's inspector office to file a complaint. Basically he did not follow prodecure.

He wanted to see the permit which I made him wait then showed it to him. He said "that's expired", I told him no it's not, it does not show an expiration date on there and I am grandfathered by it since there was a fence in there before.

He left and nothing further happened.

No notices, nothing.
