What are the differences between gray and orange. I have a gray cs-510 with damaged cylinder and piston and am looking to buy another one, are parts interchangeable between the 2 different colored ones? How about the new 50 cc saws, are any parts the same? BTW if you put rope into cylinder and then try and remove the clutch, make sure you are loosening and not tightening to the point you crack the piston and score the cylinder, ask me how I learned that lesson.

Morning. I bought a CS-450P from a dealer in the spring of this year and I have been very happy with the saw. If I had it all over again I might go with the 50cc model for the little extra grunt, but the 45 has seen it's share of bigger blowdowns from several Nor'easters this November and did great. I am no expert, but I believe the gray and orange models share little but the Echo name...? Different manufacturers and eras?

Have one and I cut a lot of wood with it. Mine sat on a shelf covered in dirt for months after I bought it until I finally got a chance to tinker with it. Now it gets grabbed before the 028 wood boss every time.

cs-510 cs-520 and cs-530 are all basically from the same family. They are all quad port cylinder clam shell saw designs. 510 was 49.5cc with 520 and 530 being 50.2cc. Gray models were the 510 and 520. The orange 530 had the same engine as the 520 but had the updated housing with the dual post chain brake handle and muffler hold down bracket. These saws are light and nimble, some of Echo's best.

These engines are also very popular with the R/C plane folks. Aftermarket pistons are available but not cylinders. The cylinders would not pass EPA air pollution tests and were replaced by the newest cs-500p.

I wouldn't characterize my experience with Echo/Echo CS-520 as "some of Echo's best".

My experience with the gray Echo CS-520 :
- Product Quality: Simple issues that shouldn't be issues in the first place (screws vibrating loose and falling out, half of slotted screw heads snapping off)
- Warranty claims: Echo policy requires ALL product issues during the warranty period be handled by an Echo Dealers
- Warranty claims: Echo dealers require you to pay $50 to just look at the saw and file a claim (even if it is clear without disassembly a cover screw is missing or other screw head is broken)
- Warranty claims: Echo owners need to wait 4-6 weeks for Echo Dealer and Echo Warranty Claims Dept to review/approve repair and make repair.
- Echo Customer Service: They are adamant to following Echo Corporate Policy.
